Research is one of the absolute delights of being a writer. I love having an excuse to ask questions – sometimes very random questions… While GW and Jack were discussing the merits of using concentrated chicken stock in risotto, I was doing research with Hannah. I wish I’d had the same ‘take no prisoners’ attitude Continue reading

Hero material
Ok, I’ll admit it. I’m a sucker for a guy who’s good with animals and children. One of the highlights of our trip to the UK was seeing GW with our niece, Hannah, and more particularly, our nephew, Jack. My husband has always maintained he’s allergic to children, but his actions belie that claim. Like most Continue reading
Journey or destination?
Phew, what a trip! In ten days I’ve travelled to the other side of the planet and back, sat through eight flights totaling over forty-seven hours, spent ten hours driving a hire car between London and Manchester and back, and loitered in airports for over seventeen hours waiting to catch flights, one of which had Continue reading
Winter Christmas
The snow didn’t fall but everything else was exactly as I imagined for a winter Christmas. For once the travel gods smiled on us and we had a seamless journey from Cairns to Manchester – the highlight being the wonderful Qantas crew between Bangkok and London and the skybeds 🙂 We arrived a day early Continue reading
To Blog or not to blog?
Today’s blog guest is one of the few bloggers I visit religiously. Her posts are funny, sassy, informative and relevant, plus she has a stellar line-up of visitors. Girl Power
Girl power always makes me smile. At our friends’ wedding on Saturday we had a ‘pilot’ photo. The girls outnumbered the guys five to three, although we manage to leave one of the women out of the photo… (sorry Fizz..), and the guys tried to claim Baby William was a pilot in the making.
Heading home for Christmas
The best feeling in the world is waiting at an airport knowing I’m heading home. True, I am an aviation tragic so being around aircraft makes me happy, but knowing the destination is hovering just out of reach is what lifts my heart. In three hours I’ll touch down in the velvety heat of North Continue reading
On the road
I’m being sociable today! (I do love a chat!!) You’ll find me over with contemporary women’s fiction author Juliet Madison answering her Ten Awkward Questions. If you’re in need of a Christmas gift then drop by and comment to go into the running for a signed copy of Shattered Sky. I promise to post it Continue reading
Time to give
The best part of Christmas is book shopping. Today was no exception! I’ve come home laden down with wonderful new stories and I’m only sorry I can’t read them all before I give them away… That would be wrong wouldn’t it… Still it would be nice… Ok, ok, I’ll behave…. promise… So, here’s the list. Continue reading
Help! I’ve lost the pause button…
Help. I’m in desperate need of a pause button – or a rewind would be even better. Where has 2011 gone? Somewhere in the last twelve months I’ve been checked to line on a new aircraft, have published my second book, have written my third novel, completed countless simulator sessions, had family visitors all the Continue reading
