I find it hard to believe that I lived in Brisbane on and off for thirty-five years and I never realised the beauty of South Stradbroke Island. Capt G and I used to camp on Moreton and Fraser Islands when we had our big old toyota land cruiser, but we never ventured to South Stradbroke. Continue reading

Days like this…
From the sublime to the ridiculous today 🙂 The sunrise was glassy calm with the palest of pink blushes. As we motored down the channel towards southern Moreton Bay I thought I was destined for another stellar word count. Sadly the universe had other plans. In a benign part of the channel, having navigated under Continue reading
Charles Darwin and the new Brisbane runaway

It’s the name of one of the world’s largest hopper dredges which is currently improving the depth of the East Channel leading into the Port of Brisbane. Holidays!
We had to wait for the tide this morning, but it was worth it. Despite the gods of wind messing with us we made it under sail over to Moreton Island. Busy, busy, busy…
Life’s pace is relentless at the moment, but it seems I’m a sucker for punishment and sleep is over-rated!! Last weekend I drove three hours to Lismore where the wonderful Rainbow Writers group from RWA had organised 26 willing participants to attend a masterclass with me. It’s been many years since I last visited Lismore Continue reading
Kylie Kaden’s Working Space
I can’t remember who introduced me to Kylie Kaden’s wonderful debut novel (maybe Jenn J McLeod??) but I will be forever grateful. ‘Losing Kate’ is an impressive debut – evocative, real, beautifully crafted and different. I’m delighted Kylie’s taken time out of her busy life to visit the blog today and share her writing space Continue reading
