Masked Hero

I’m a sucker for a hero. It makes my heart softer when I see an heroic act, even if it’s something small. In a car park near the marina we have a pair of nesting Masked Lapwings (don’t you love that name – it sounds like a bushranger and way more romantic than a Plover!) Continue reading

Shockin’ Frockin’

Frocktober is almost done, but for the Romancing the Frock crew we’ve had one last push to reach our fund raising goals. If you haven’t already donated then please click on the link and dig deep for a great cause. Ovarian Cancer is an insidious disease which is all too often diagnosed late. You can find Continue reading

Life’s like that…

I’m back! Apologies for my unscheduled absence, but there simply haven’t been enough hours in the day for the last few weeks. It started with GenreCon and hasn’t let up since. If you missed out on GenreCon then put it in your diary for next year or 2015 as it’s a wonderful celebration of Genre Continue reading

I’m frocking up for Frocktober!

Coincidences and those déja vu moments when I find myself pre-empting what will happen next have been a regular part of my life. I’m never quite sure what to make of them, but these days I go with the flow. My head tells me they are just a part of a busy mind that dredges Continue reading

Brisbane Writers Festival

Life has been crazy to the point of overload for the past month, but finally I have time to sit and write a blog post – although a short one. The departures hall of Melbourne International Airport is full of happy travellers. I have a power point for charging my laptop and phone so I’m Continue reading

Riding the Waves in Freo!

As usual it was uplifting, frenetic and fabulous! Thank you and well done to the conference team. It’s a huge undertaking for a group Continue reading

Final leg

We did it! Cairns to Brisbane in 14 days. Now there’s just enough time to visit Mum in hospital, sort out a mooring, clean the boat, finish a book, pack, and then fly to Freo on Thursday for the RWA conference. The journey’s been a little frenetic at times and with a strong wind warning Continue reading

What’s a dog to do!

This journey is something of a flyer so there hasn’t been much time to stop and enjoy.Thankfully moving at 5 kts means we can take in the scenery as we go and the whales, ever obliging, came to us!  But if it weren’t for Zeus we would have carried on sailing without stopping so I’m Continue reading

Well howdy, landlubbers

Ahoy me hearties, it’s me Zeus, the Salty Old Sea Dog. Capt G and Helene are snoring their heads off after a hectic couple of days. I have no idea why they find night sailing at all tiring or stressful. I thought it was pretty darned cool talking to the US Navy ships last night. Continue reading
