It’s been a busy year for me with many changes both in my day job – flying Dash 8 aircraft for Qantaslink through regional Queensland – and in my writing endeavours.
I’m thrilled that Hachette Australia will publish my romantic suspense stories set in North Queensland and am looking forward to working with their team. My first book “Border Watch” will be released in March 2010 and the cover will be out soon! It would be an understatement to say the learning curve since signing with Hachette has been vertical.
With the many intricacies of the publishing world it took about twenty-four hours for me to realise the easy part of being a writer is penning the actual book. Editing, contracts, websites, blogs, twitters, facebook plus all manner of social networking present some interesting challenges…
Like the naive traveller I was twenty-five years ago when I set out with a one-way ticket and a visa to work in the UK, I feel as though the street signs are in a foreign language and I have only a glimmer of an idea where the road is taking me. But, with twinges of nerves to balance the excitement, I’m planning on enjoying every step of it and I’d love you to join me on the journey!
