Sandy, I missed your post – sorry! I think a lot of Australian servicemen got up to mischief when they went to war. I’m sure so many went off thinking it was just another great adventure. My mother’s brothers both died in the Second World War – one in France and the other in New Guinea. I know ANZAC day is always hard for her.
Hey Helene, Hope you enjoyed your ANZAC memorial. Both my grandfathers were stationed in north Africa during world war two. I don’t know how much action they saw, but I looked up their war records when we were down in Canberra – they were a couple of naughty boys. At least they got out alive.
